ACADEMICS

CONNECTIONS

Close, meaningful relationships between students and the faculty who know and care about them are a cornerstone of our Derby community. Every individual is valued here. Because our students are known and respected, they have the confidence to be themselves, take risks, and be fully engaged in their educational experience.

Derby students are given multiple options for exploration and engagement through specials, electives, and much more. Beyond traditional academics, the Derby experience offers a variety of required and optional offerings from PK-8 in public speaking, visual & performing arts, physical education & athletics, STEAM, library, and world languages.

ENGAGEMENT

At Derby, school is joyful and fun! As a PK-8 school, children are able to experience the joy of being young through their preteen years. All students have multiple recess periods and opportunities for play every day. Interactions between younger and older students are both organic and thoughtfully crafted, allowing for inspiration and leadership throughout the school year.
